Worsted Spun Extra-fine merino in a super-soft finish - Cashwool®

This is a fine knit jumper – it is worsted spun so the yarn’s fine hairs are twisted together in such a way to make it soft enough to wear without a T-shirt.

Designed in Great Britain.

Italian Worsted Spun ExtraFine Italian Merino 93% Silk 7%.

Made in Europe.

More about Merino.....Merino is an amazing fabric. Merino wool is really soft, and it isn't scratchy like “regular” wool. That's because merino wool fibres are much finer than standard sheep's wool. Make it worsted spun, Extrafine and the results are stunning.

It's is super light but very warm – it's weight to warmth metric is brilliant. The fabric has a natural loft that traps heat very efficiently between the fibres, making it warm and it is also good in the warmer weather as merino regulates your body temperature really well.

This makes merino a 3 season material – it is called extra fine for a reason, and our Worsted Spun Extrafine Merino is one of the best merinos. It breathes, and unlike bulky wool can be layered in late September or fly solo in early May, and all the days in-between…

The cuffs, rib and neck trims use a Merino & Silk blend created in the same factory - Silk adds a wonderful charm, with the sheen and the brilliance it gives to colours. The blend with this super fine merino makes our knitwear a precious item.

Size & Fit

MG Rivers' Fit

Our Men's Jumpers / Men's Tank Tops and Bomber Jackets are designed to be fitted.

For a slim fit buy your size. For a looser fit buy a size bigger. The Tank Top will feel more loose fitting (no arm restrictions) so you may wish to go down a size to the jumper. (Or take advantage of our Free Returns and buy both, sending one back)

Knitwear made for men, but can be worn by women.

For women the main decision is whether to go more fitted or looser (slightly wider & longer).  Sizing is easier than normal as they drape over any bumps! As a rough guide using your normal size :

  • Size 8-10   - XS for fitted,     S or even M for loose fitting / longer
  • Size 12      -  S for fitted,      M for loose fitting / longer
  • Size 14+    -  S/M for fitted,  L for loose fitting / longer
Garment Care

How to care for your extrafine Merino/Silk

Merino and silk are natural fibres. We recommend doing a cool hand wash or specialist dry clean.

Summary

Hand wash cold with a mild detergent
  • Re-shape whilst damp
  • Dry flat
  • Cool iron on the reverse

Or specialist dry cleaning

Our jumpers are made of natural fibres - to ensure longevity please

  • Do not machine wash
  • Do not soak
  • Do not tumble dry

Hand washing

Washing by hand is highly recommended for your Merino and Silk blend. Turn your garments inside-out, hand wash using cool water. Avoid soaking for too long, a few minutes to help loosen the dirt before gently squeezing and rinsing, first with cool water.

Drying

Pre-dry your Extrafine Merino by gently rolling it in a towel  – never wring. Reshape the garment while damp, (especially the neck line) and dry flat not on direct heat.

Ironing

Occasionally it may be good to iron your Extrafine Merino to keep the fibres in good condition. Bizarrely low heat ironing makes the Extrafine Merino super soft by helping the fibres smooth down and go back to the soft state they were when you first bought it! Iron lightly when the jumper is still damp, with a finishing cloth in between and hold the iron on a low setting possible & ideally without steam so you do not ruin the fibres.  If dry ironing, use a slightly damp cloth in between to avoid glazing. Obviously, avoid the rib stripe.
